Question Your Quality
In your small business it is very important to think about quality, because customers are going to judge you on this. If you have a service business, consider what makes your offerings better. If you have a product-oriented business, think about what you can do to achieve better physical and service quality. Ask yourself if your customers are going to come back, and why? Are your customers telling other people, the good and the bad, about your company? These are the questions you should ask yourself. If they are just sharing bad news then your business may be going downhill. Try to change that negative story by improving the return on investment customers feel they are getting.
Look for flaws in your choices around quality. Whether it’s a service or a product, discover the small things that make them seem weak from a customer’s perspective. Fix your problems by trying new ideas and making changes until you continuously get good customer feedback. Ensure these problems don’t happen again. It could be through changing the items used in your product until the customer is satisfied.
Changing things in your business is never a bad idea if it’s to benefit customer satisfaction, all you have to do is make the right changes and have the right attitude going down the path you want your business to go. If you do this continuously you won’t ever have to go back to being less successful. Make sure that you continue to stick to the best practices by implementing quality control mechanisms and your company will have nothing to worry about.
It’s obviously very important to maintain quality. But, it’s no use doing all that on-going hard work if your employees are not willing to preserve the quality standards you establish. Talk to them, set up a meeting to explain what quality means to you, for them and especially for your customers. And remember, to sustain high quality, don’t be afraid to continuously ask your customers about your service or product.
